Douglas R. Kenyon (Doug) passed away Friday, April 26, 2024, after a brief battle with cancer.
Born June 13, 1959 in Laredo, TX, into an Air Force family, Doug was the 4th of 6 children of the late Lt Col (ret) Charles A. Kenyon, Jr. and the late Betty J. Knight Kenyon. Growing up, Doug would live in a number of places & attend many different schools. He was a 1977 graduate of Hampton High School in Hampton, VA, where he was on the wrestling team and made many lifelong friends. He attended TNCC, ODU and The University of Maryland in Munich.
After a 20-year career as a lineman, Doug returned to Florida. He was a 15-year resident of Destin and lived in Freeport, FL. He was employed at Walmart in Santa Rosa Beach, FL.
In addition to his parents, Doug was predeceased by his brother, Charles A. Kenyon Jr (Chuck), and his nephews Stephen Whitehead & Brad Nicely.
Doug is survived by his sisters Mary Kenyon of Freeport, Joy Robbins & husband Larry of Destin, and Grace Kenyon & Lisa Dessoffy of Newport News, VA. Also surviving are nephews & nieces, Chuck Bower, Amber Tomaszewski, Kenny Whitehead, Jason & Krystle Klosterman and Lauren & Phillip Dessoffy; as well as uncles, aunts. & many cousins and friends.
A visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at McLaughlin Twin Cities Funeral Home. Burial will take place in Destin Memorial Cemetery at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 6, 2024.
